When East Meet West

東置西

These installations blended the distinct features of Hong Kong's Eastern District and West Kowloon through interactive art. Visitors engaged their senses to explore the past of the Eastern District while experiencing the West Kowloon Cultural District. They listened to sounds from the Eastern District's history, viewed the West Kowloon waterfront, and touched elements that connected both areas' cultures, sharing their own stories along the way.

Sound installations on the West Kowloon Promenade played recordings of the Eastern District’s environment, culture, and stories, paired with poetic descriptions that sparked imagination. This allowed visitors to take in West Kowloon’s scenery while immersing themselves in the sounds of the Eastern District.

Landscape artworks were also set up along the promenade, featuring frames and installations inspired by the Eastern District. Visitors used these to view or photograph the West Kowloon surroundings, blending the two areas' environments and cultures.

On the Great Lawn, installations highlighted the traditions of the Eastern District and the artistic spirit of West Kowloon. Visitors explored these pieces, reflecting on local culture and sharing their own stories about the Eastern District and their hopes for West Kowloon.
